International Development Statistics (IDS)

Resource Flows Project
Aid for population and health areas. The aim of the RF project is to monitor global financial flows for population and AIDS activities.

USAID Greenbook
US Foreign Aid data. The Greenbook shows a complete historical record of United States’ (U.S.) foreign aid to the rest of the world by reporting all loans and grants authorized by the U.S. Government for each fiscal year.

The Afrobarometer is an independent, nonpartisan research project that measures the social, political, and economic atmosphere in Africa.

Polling the Nations

Economist Intelligence Unit democracy index
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s index provides a snapshot of the current state of democracy worldwide for 165 independent states and two territories.

Freedom House democracy index
Freedom House conducts research and advocacy on democracy, political freedom and human rights. It publishes an annual report assessing the degree of perceived democratic freedoms in each country, which is used in political science research.

Heritage Foundation index of economic freedom
The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

Polity IV Dataset
The Polity IV Project continues the Polity research tradition of coding the authority characteristics of states in the world system for purposes of comparative, quantitative analysis.

Transparency International Corruption Perception Index

UCDP/PRIO Conflict Database
The Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) collects information on a large number of aspects of armed violence since 1946. The UCDP data is one of the most accurate and well-used data-sources on global armed conflicts and its definition of armed conflict is becoming a standard in how conflicts are systematically defined and studied.

Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research
The HIIK annually publishes the Conflict Barometer, which describes recent trends in conflict development, escalations, settlements.

Global Terrorism Database
The Global Terrorism Database (GTD) is an open-source database including information on terrorist events around the world from 1970 through 2008 and systematic data on domestic as well as international terrorist incidents that have occurred during this time period.

Minorities at Risk Project
The Minorities at Risk (MAR) Project is a university-based research project that monitors and analyzes the status and conflicts of politically-active communal groups in all countries with a current population of at least 500,000. The project is designed to provide information in a standardized format that aids comparative research and contributes to the understanding of conflicts involving relevant groups.

UN Office on Drugs and Crime

EU Defense Data
